Slew--submitted by Anne "Tree" Coley

Slew's RF
Shoes were used to try to help with lameness. It didn't work. Shoes were pulled 8/2/03 and hoof trimmed. Toe was too short, heels high, bars high. Hair line was almost horizontal to the ground from a lateral view. Photo is after trim.

Slew's old grazing stance
Immediately following the trim the horse was allowed to graze. This is how it was used to placing its front feet. Note the RF heel floating. Before the trim it would've been firmly on the ground due to high heel, more comfort placed here.

Slew's return to normal stance
Now she begins to place the RF foot forward, the natural thing she'd do. She feels the change in this foot and can begin using it more normally. Now it's a matter of gaining toe height.

Slew's front hoof angles
Note the difference in each toe angle. Neither match. The trim will focus on returning the RF to a more natural angle as that of the LF.
