S. Utah mustangs

These feet came off a filly that was approximately
1.75 years old. She had a broken front leg and had to
be put down. This was in November and she did not see
any winter range this year. As far as I know she was
never in a corral or enclosure of any type, so the
wear should be natural on the open range. The
mustangs here inhabit mostly dry, rocky terrain. The
feet are in my freezer waiting shipment to Martha O.

I am from Southern Utah and have helped in a few
mustang roundups for BLM. I have noticed that there
is a vast difference between feet on dry summer range
in comparison to feet on winter range, especially
during harsh winters with plenty of snow. Those
horses who spend much of their winter in snow have
much longer feet than those in the summer. Apparently
the snow has very little abrasive action. I have
photos of mustang feet.  If anyone is interested,
e-mail me and I will send you some.
